TEAM TRIAL SELECTION
Hi shuttlers!
Just to let you guys know, with effect from last month, due to other commitments, I (Wee Yang) have relinquished the President of SIM Badminton Club to our former Vice President, Pebbles Toh Peixuan. She will now lead the club as the president, as I take on the role of club's deputy president.
IVP Badminton Competition 2010 is round the corner (next year January). As per usual, we will be recruiting new talents to represent our school. In 2008, we have clinched a Silver (Men's) and a Bronze (Women's) medal. In 2009, our Men's team has done us proud by clinching the Gold Medal. As such, our goal for next year is to maintain our standard or do even better!
Details you should know about IVP:
1. There are, in total, 10 schools competing in the arena. They include all the universities, polytechnics as well as combined ITE.
2. Each team (men/women) consists of a maximum of 10 players and minimun of 7 players.
3. The new badminton rules will be used in the competition.
Should you be interested in representing SIM, trial details are as follow:
1. Some players from Team IVP 2009 are exempted from the trial selections. Their commitments, efforts and training standards have been recognized, thus as an incentive, they are reselected into the team.
These players include:
Men's: Erik Wu, Desmond Ong, Liew Jun Liang, Chan Wee Yang
Women's: Toh Peixuan, Lynne Soon, Low Sieu Chien, Toh Yun Hua
Only players mentioned here are exempted.
2.
Trials will be set tentatively on 11 September, 7.30pm @ venue to be confirmed. Please make yourself available!
3. Assessment criteria of the selection will be announced on the actual day itself before the actual trial starts. The assessors, which include the Presidents, the coach or the captains, will oversee the whole selection process.
4. The number of players selected will not be fixed yet. We select by standards, not quota (although we may have a maximum quota if there is a need for it).
5A. Unfortunately due to time and resources constraint, a trial opportunity may not be granted to everyone. You need TO BE INVITED to attend the trial session. In order to be invited, you need to attend a leisure session so that we (the Presidents or captains) may have a rough idea of your standard. Additionally, you need to INDICATE your interest to the Presidents. We may then contact you to linvite you to attend the trial session.
5B.
If you are not able to attend any leisure session (with valid reasons), you must drop us an email at badminton@clubs.sim.edu.sg CC: pebbles_bad@hotmail.com and cwyrocks@gmail.com Subject: TRIAL SELECTION - UNABLE TO ATTEND LEISURE.
You must include your NAME, UNIVERSITY, YEAR OF GRADUATION, HANDPHONE NUMBER. We will then contact you to give you other set of instructions.
6. By attending the trial session, you agree that all decisions made by the Presidents are final. There may be appeals but those appeals will be subjected to the discussions and re-decisions of the Presidents. Should your appeal be unsuccessful, the Presidents' decisions shall be final.
7. By attending the trial session, you agree that should you be selected into the team, you will be fully committed in attending all training sessions and give your fullest to the team. Should you fail to do so, you may be replaced by other individual(s).
Last but not least, all these rules are penned down so that all of us have a common understanding of how things will be carried out so as to minimise discrepancies; they are not there to scare you guys.
Good luck and all the best for the trials! Hope to see you guys in the team.
Should you have any questions, feel free to drop Pebbles (@
pebbles_bad@hotmail.com or 90072813) or myself (@
cwyrocks@gmail.com or 90607832) a message.
Cheers,
Wee Yang
Vice President
